COMMERCIAL / RESIDENTIAL HVAC DUCTWORK FABRICATION IN CT

In order to ensure a comfortable temperature is maintained throughout any given commercial space, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are a necessity. And, while a powerful and efficiently functioning HVAC machine is important, the proper ductwork is just as crucial in ensuring proper and precise air flow.

Composition 1

Modern HVAC ducts are most commonly made of metal, fiberglass, or plastic, metal being the most commonly used material.

HVAC systems are typically composed of two main components: the supply branch and the return branch. The supply branch feeds air into the target space while the return branch cycles air back to the supplying unit.

Types of ducts: Flexible and Rigid 2

Generally speaking, there are two different types of HVAC ducts that can be fitted to your commercial space: flexible and rigid.

Flexible ducts are usually cylindrical in shape and are great for spaces where it may be more difficult to successfully install more rigid ductwork. Because of the inherently flexible nature of these ducts, care must be taken to ensure they are given the correct amount of support so as not to diminish the flow of air from the designated HVAC machine.

Rigid ducts can either be cylindrical or rectangular and, as the name would suggest, are sturdier than flexible ducts. These ducts are ideal for spaces with layouts that will not inhibit installation.

Fabrication Process 1+3

The fabrication process for HVAC ducts involves precisely cutting and bending sheet metal into the desired cylindrical or rectangular shapes. It is essential that custom ductwork is made with precision – i.e. care is taken to make sure all pieces fit together tightly and all grooves and openings line up exactly –  in order to guarantee proper insulation and, consequently, proper air flow. For this reason, it is always advised to seek professional guidance when designing, fabricating, and installing your HVAC ducts.
